Born in the suburbs of Paris, a former high-level athlete and cinema enthusiast, Lara started visiting film sets at a very young age, where she had the opportunity to work as a camera assistant on films by Wes Anderson, Damien Chazelle, Toledano & Nakache, and Romain Gavras. She also collaborated with cinematographers such as André Chemetoff, Matias Boucard, Darius Khondji, Alex Lamarque, and Arnaud Potier on commercials and music videos (Nike, Apple, Lacoste, Dua Lipa…), and with directors like François Rousselet, Manu Cossu, So Me, and Kourtrajmeuf. These experiences motivated her to become a cinematographer herself; she worked as a second unit DOP on the period series directed by Thierry Poiraud, “Les Sentinelles” for Canal+.
